Royal Oak waterproofing FAQ
Updated October 19, 2026
Who actually shows up?
An independent waterproofing contractor who works in Royal Oak. We send your request to one of them; they call you and come out. We don't come out and we don't do the work.
Is there a fee for the referral?
No. The contractor pays for the introduction. Your only cost is whatever you agree to with them, if you hire them.
I have an old brick foundation. Is that a problem?
It changes the method, not the outcome. Mortar repointing plus interior drain tile is the usual approach; mention the brick in your request so the contractor sends someone who does pre-war foundations.
The water comes up the floor drain, not the walls.
That's a sewer issue, common in Royal Oak's combined-sewer district. The fix is a backwater valve or overhead sewer plus a sump that discharges outside, not wall coatings. Say "floor drain" in the request and the right trade comes out.
Do you only cover Royal Oak?
We built this for Royal Oak (48067 and 48073). The contractors we work with also serve nearby cities, so if you're in Berkley, Clawson or Huntington Woods, send the request anyway.
How fast does someone call?
Typically within one business day. After a major storm, longer; everyone is calling.
Will I get a hard sell?
You'll get a written estimate and the contractor's recommendation. If anyone pressures you to sign on the spot, don't, and tell us.
Is a permit needed for a sump pump?
In Royal Oak, yes: plumbing/sewer work is permitted through the Building Division. The contractor should include it.
Can I get other bids?
Yes. Nothing obligates you to the contractor we send.
Do you have reviews?
Not yet; this referral service is new in 2026. Ask the contractor for their own references and license number instead.
